Smackdown took a major hit when it learned that one of their champions would not be able to compete at their upcoming pay-per-view No Mercy.
According to F4WOnline.com, Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will not be able to compete and defend her championship this Sunday at No Mercy against Alexa Bliss due to an undisclosed injury.
As first reported by James McKenna of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Lynch is said to be 100 percent off the No Mercy card and may miss the rest of the month as well.
WWE or Lynch have not publicly commented on the matter, but it is now being rumored that it could possibly be a neck injury.
According to Squared Circle Sirens, Lynch suffered the neck injury a few weeks ago and has been wrestling with the injury since that time.
This is a big blow for the blue brand. In what already is a pretty thin roster, how will Smackdown be able to fill the hole that one of their champions and biggest stars has left due to injury. It is rumored that Lynch could still appear on the show, but for sure not compete.
We will keep you updated on the status of Lynch’s injury and how severe it is.
Will Smackdown still be able to put on a good show despite missing one of their biggest stars? No Mercy is this Sunday October 9 live on the WWE Network and on pay-per-view.
