The Moon looks to rise the night of NXT Takeover War Games in Houston, Texas. Ember Moon returns to her home state looking to have her career come full circle in the city it all began by defeating three other women for the vacant NXT Women’s title. Let’s take a deeper look into this Mythical Warrior.
Before Moon became this rising myth in NXT, Adrienne Reese was a girl from Dallas, Texas who fell in love with wrestling when her grandfather introduced her to it. From then on this is all she wanted to do.
In 2007, Reese began her training. At one point, she made her way down to Houston, Texas to train with WWE Hall of Famer, Booker T at his school “Booker T’s Pro Wrestling Alliance” now known as “Reality of Wrestling.”
Reese began wrestling for the promotion under the name Athena. From there, her career took off in the independents.
On September 11, 2015, Athena was signed to NXT where she was renamed as Ember Moon. Nearly a year later she television debut at NXT Takeover Brooklyn 2 where she defeated Billie Kay with one of the best finishers in the business, the Eclipse.
Moon’s finisher, The Eclipse.
Moon then began racking up wins until she finally was able to get her first opportunity against the NXT Women’s Champion Asuka at NXT Takeover Orlando in April 2017. Moon would be unsuccessful in capturing the championship, but this would not be the last time these two met.
Moon and Asuka would meet once again later this year at NXT Takeover Brooklyn 3, where they had arguably one of the best women’s match ever. Despite taking Asuka to the brink of defeat, Moon failed once again at capturing the title, but not without gaining the respect and adoration of the fans.
At NXT Takeover War Games, this will be Moon’s third chance at the title. However, she will have to get past three other women if she wants to become the champion.
It could be destiny for Moon to win the title this time around. She is in her home state and is in the town where she honed her wrestling skills.
Moon, wrestling wise, is a good as it gets. She is very talented, but some people think she is not ready to carry the title and the division. Many feel she lacks the presence and the promo skills that a champion requires.
Asuka didn’t have the best promo skills, but she carried herself and felt like a big deal. Sasha Banks had killer promos and carried herself like a champion. Moon however when you see her, just doesn’t feel like a big presence.
If Moon wins the title, she can learn how to carry herself as champion. She is one of the best female wrestlers in WWE with a finishing move that is over as over can be, but she just doesn’t seem ready for the task. Only time will tell.
Do you think Moon is ready to be champion? Who do you got winning the Fatal Four Way?
